Lakes Line :: Along the Line :: Windermere
The town of Windermere developed when the new railway arrived in 1846. It's a great base from which to explore the Lake District. Don't miss the walk up to Orrest Head which offers spectacular views of the Lake District, or a trip across Lake Windermere with Windermere Lake Cruises.
